Migrate a site
Our integration migration tool lets you bring your existing websites to the Static Studio platform. Let's examine how it works and what is needed to ensure a smooth migration.
Prepare your backup
File Limits
We accept a single ZIP file with a maximum file size of 5 GB. If you want to migrate a larger website to Static Studio, please get in touch with support, and we can handle the migration for you.
Prepare your backup
Before we start the migration process, let's briefly talk about the structure of your backup file.
To ensure a smooth and timely migration, we decided to set two rules regarding the structure of your file: your ZIP file should only contain two things: the wp-content directory and a file called db.sql:
The structure ensures that we are not spending time uploading and deleting unnecessary core files, and we can focus on what matters: migrating your website as fast as possible.
We also recommend checking and deleting older backup files that might be stored inside your wp-content directory. We handle backups automatically for you and save them in a remote location to free up storage space.
Upload your backup
Log in to your dashboard and click on Create Site to get started:
Add a name for your site and click on Upload Backup:
Now you will see our uploader - you can drag and drop the ZIP file into it or manually choose the file from your local file directory:
Once you've selected the file, confirm the upload by clicking Upload Backup:
Once done, you will see the progress of your upload in real-time - you can always pause and resume the upload at any given time, and we will temporarily hold the data for you:
Once the file is uploaded, the window will close, and we will start deploying a fresh site and then running the migration. You can always follow the progress in the Status column:
You don't need to keep the window open. Depending on the size of your backup, the progress might take a while, but we will email you once the website has been migrated.
